Pain is one of the most common feelings that people experience in their lifetime, especially when it comes to body pain and aches. They can be caused by a number of reasons and sometimes are able to impact the everyday lives of the person. Luckily, there are ways to relieve and overcome these pains and aches.

Bellow, we present you three common types of pain, the reasons behind them, ways to prevent them, but most importantly how Biofreeze can help you treat them properly!

Neck Pain

Neck pain can restrict basic movements like turning the head and this discomfort can be experienced in several ways. This could be through muscular pain and spasm, headaches, pain in the joints or bones and nerve pain which can lead to numbness or tingling in your arms and hands. You can also experience referred pain which is triggered by an issue with another part of the body.

Causes:

  • Poor posture when sitting at a desk or driving for long periods
  • Poor sleeping position with the neck positioned awkwardly
  • Pinched nerve
  • Specific injuries, such as sports or daily injuries
  • Stress-related tension

Treatment:

  • Stabilise your head and neck position when sleeping by using a low and firm pillow
  • To prevent neck pain, try to correct your posture by rolling your shoulders back slowly in order to bring your neck back to its right position

Use Biofreeze Roll-on:

  • The roll-on application allows effective delivery of Biofreeze gel to smaller muscles and joints throughout the body
  • The massaging action of the rollerball can be used to stimulate trigger points in the affected area
  • Carry in your bag for easy application on the go and at the office

Shoulder Pain

The shoulder is a complex, highly mobile structure made up of several components. It has two joints; the glenohumeral joint – where your upper arm bone connects with your shoulder blade, and the acromioclavicular joint – where the top of your shoulder blade meets your collarbone. Shoulder pain can take various forms and can really impact everyday tasks.

Causes:

  • Arthritis
  • Frozen shoulder, a condition which can restrict movement and cause pain and stiffness
  • Inflammation of the tendons which is known as tendonitis.
  • Bursitis, a condition which involves swelling and inflammation of the bursa – a sac filled with fluid formed under the skin, often over the joints and acts as a cushion between the tendons and bones

Treatment

  • Ιt is really important to keep moving. Regularly mobilise the shoulder gently to prevent stiffness and pain. One simple exercise to help relieve this pain is the pendulum stretch:
Relax the arm on the side where the pain is, letting it hang straight down. Slowly begin to swing the relaxed arm by moving your body. Move it in a circle, then reverse the direction
  • Stand up straight with your shoulders gently back
  • Sit with a cushion behind your lower back and/or place a cushion on your lap so that you can rest your arm

Use Biofreeze Roll-on:

  • The roll-on application allows effective delivery of Biofreeze gel to smaller muscles and joints throughout the body
  • The massaging action of the rollerball can be used to stimulate trigger points in the affected area
  • Carry in your bag for easy application on the go

Back Pain

Back pain is a very common complaint. It tends to be what is described as ‘non-specific’ where there is no known cause and the origin of the pain is likely to be from soft tissue, joints, or individual bones centred around the spine. Pain in the lower back is particularly prevalent. This type of pain can have an impact on the lower extremities including your legs and feet. Back pain can be felt in a number of ways including muscle aches, stabbing pain and pain that travels down your legs, often leading to reduced mobility and flexibility.

Common Causes:

  • Bending or twisting awkwardly
  • Lifting and carrying heavy objects
  • Sitting for extended periods of time in a hunched or slouchy position

Treatment:

  • Ιt is really important to keep moving. Simple back exercises and stretches can help reduce pain.
  • Visit a physiotherapist to provide support on those exercises that are appropriate for your condition
  • Yoga, pilates, swimming and walking can also be beneficial in relieving symptoms of back pain

Use Biofreeze Spray for the upper body:

  • The spray allows easy application to those hard to reach areas of the back
  • Ideal for people with limited mobility resulting from conditions such as arthritis
  • Delivers the same relief when sprayed upside down

Use Biofreeze Roll-on for the lower body:

  • Roll-On application allows effective delivery of Biofreeze gel to smaller muscles and joints throughout the body. The massaging action of the rollerball can be used to stimulate trigger points in the affected area
